Classes
Creative time is vacation for our minds. Giving your child or yourself this time is increasingly valuable in the busy lives we lead. We offer ongoing sessions of art classes for kids K-5 during the school year along with a selection of creative workshops for adults and older kids too. The classes focus on exploration and experimentation with a variety of mediums and methods, including but not limited to painting in watercolor, acrylic and oil, drawing with soft and oil pastels, pen and ink, Japanese brush painting, printmaking, collage, sculpting and papier-mache.
For older children and adult workshops we delve deeper into the same mediums and processes. If you've ever wanted to attempt oil painting, here's your opportunity. Or just try your hand at a Paint and Create Night which happens regularly every third Thursday of the month.
Paint Nights
Every Third Thursday of the month from 7-10 PM along with other individual nights throughout the month, we host a themed paint night complete with refreshments. Rather than attempting to all paint the same composition, we use the seasons and nature as timely inspiration for the foundation of our work, which will then vary as we discover our own unique expression. People are surprised and pleased at what they come up with working in a fun and creative group setting.
I call these "Paint and Create" as these sessions are not limited to just painting. We’ve worked with ink, painting mandalas, used collaging methods to create vision boards, and have even had sewing workshops to spruce up old favorites in the wardrobe. We are limitless when we are creating!
About Me
I’m an artist living and working in downtown Larkspur. As an art restorer I’ve worked with many materials and have gained an insight and sensitivity to a variety of fine art. Being especially drawn to Japanese aesthetics and their reverence of nature has inspired and influenced what I create through painting, wood-block printing, sculpting and collage.
Several years ago, I began the rewarding practice of teaching private art classes to children and adults at the studio. I’m on a mission to help keep the visual arts alive and thriving in our community.
