Welcome to hachidori studio
hachidori studio is owned and operated by Lori-Michele Emerson, an artist living and working in downtown Larkspur who is on a mission to keep the visual arts alive and thriving in her community. Over the years, Lori has worked across a variety of mediums and gained insight and sensitivity to the nuance of fine art. She is especially drawn to Japanese aesthetics and its reverence of nature has inspired and influenced her expression through painting, wood-block printing, sculpting and collage.
Prior to opening hachidori, Lori specialized in the restoration of Japanese art for a famous, yet unnamed gallery that once held the largest collection of Japanese art outside of Japan and whose clientele includes names you've seen in the news. In 2015 she began conducting team-building workshops and teaching private art classes to children & adults at the studio.
Lori remains an active artist, creating works inspired by nature across a plethora of media, many of which are on display at her studio. She is also the recipient of the prestigious Bartolini Award in 2024, a prize given at the Marin County Fair for the single most inspiring piece of art shown at the fair. Some of her works can be seen here.
